The RSPB Big Garden Birdwatch

You may have seen the adverts on TV for this weekend's Big Garden Birdwatch. If you haven't the idea is a very simple one. You spend an hour over the weekend to count the birds that visit your garden. Then submit your results online at the RSPB Big Garden Birdwatch website. Easy. It's free to register and submit your results and I thought it would be a fun thing to do with Pip.

I must admit I've been a bit slack with the bird feeders lately so this seemed like a good a reason as any to get back into it. So we popped into the Guildhall market in town and bought a couple of bags of cheap bird seed. Sorry RSPB. I'm a big fan of your work, but not the prices of your bird feed.

Then we made some bird feeders out of old milk bottles and tea cups, filled the lot with bird seed and now they are hanging up ready for the birds. To be honest, so far I've only seen a blackbird and blue tit, but fingers crossed, more birds will find their way into the garden by the weekend.

This isn't a sponsored post by the way. I just saw the advert on telly and my inner bird nerd thought it would be a fun thing to get involved in. So is anyone else taking part in the Big Garden Birdwatch this weekend? .

    1. Want to know how many birds I've seen in my garden since I put all that bloody food out? NONE.
