Bump update - 10 months

Well here we are folks, my last bump update.

And just when I thought I couldn't possibly grow any bigger, I do.
I love this photograph, because I also look slightly guilty. Probably from eating far too much cake.

If you follow me on Twitter then you'll know all too well of my recent handmade curtain hell.
This was the curtain fabric chosen for the nursery, but as it didn't look as though they would get made in time, I took this photo as I just wanted to share it's pastelly, flowery goodness with you all.

But wait, what are those?? Why, they're a pair of pastelly, flowery curtains!
That's right folks, the fabric seller was super speedy and sent me the correct amount of fabric very quickly so I was actually able to get the curtains finished a couple of days ago. You have no idea how happy it made me to get this done. Like, insanely and probably worryingly unhealthy levels of happy.

I'll take some more photos of the nursery soon, but at the moment to be honest, it's just a room with some baby bits in it.

As it stands this moment, the little lady is no where to be seen so today there's been exercise ball bouncing, raspberry leaf tea, pineapple, a long walk and dinner later will be a curry. All in a bid to try and encourage her out. Will it work? Probably not, but here's hoping. I'm all kinds of ready to meet her now!

The chocolate biscuits and daffodils however, were just for me.

And there you have it folks. That's me at 40 weeks. My ankles are the same size as my calves, my belly measures 39cm from top to bottom, my boobs are the biggest they've ever been and I can't move anywhere without going "ooomph! Urgggaarrghh! Urgh, I'm tired. I need to sit down...oooomph!" etc, etc.

Come on Piposa, it's time my girl. Stop using my bladder as a squeezy toy and get out.

Oh..and please don't hurt me!

The anti-pregnancy post

As most women do during pregnancy, I gave up a few things along the way.  Some because it was healthier or sensible to do so and others because I physically had to.

Now that this period of my life is almost over, I keep thinking about all the things I can welcome back into my life and thought it would be fun to list them in an 'anti-pregnancy' style post.

Heels
Yeah, yeah I know. When will I actually get a chance to wear these? That's not the point though. The point is that I will have the choice to again. Wearing a pair of heels will no longer have my back and pelvis spazzing out in pain. Yee haw!

Coffee!
Obviously I drink coffee anyway, but it's almost always decaff. Which to be honest, is usually so bad that you wonder how it got to be called coffee at all.

Booze
Oh yes, alcohol my friend. Cider..wine..how I've missed you.

The Food You Can't Eat When You're Pregnant
Blue cheese, soft cheese, prawns, dippy eggs yadda, yadda, yadda. Soon to be all mine!

Buying New Clothes
No more will I have to think about whether a new piece of clothing with accommodate my planet sized bump and whether or not I'll still be able to wear it after the birth. No longer will I limited to stretchy, shapeless dresses and only be able to wear leggings, tights and jeans if they have a tent's worth of extra fabric around the tummy. Oh happy days.

Bending/Moving
Oh this one is probably up there at the top. I miss being able to move as I used to. I currently can't drive due to my lack of mobility. I can't turn over in bed without the help of the headboard and more often than not, Dan has to help me get socks and boots on and off. That said, I don't think I'll ever be able to do what the lady in this picture is doing. I'm not even sure I understand why she's doing it. Bloody show off.

Sleeping on My Tummy
Oh I miss this too. SO much! Right now I'm limited to sleeping on my left side only. My front is not an option for obvious reasons. Lying on my back leaves me struggling to breath properly and my right side means the weight cuts off the circulation resulting in a pain that runs from my bum cheek all the way down to my foot. Nice.

So there you have it folks. As well as my little lady all these things will be mine once more. And a few more that I thought of as I was writing this:

Rings - fingers currently too fat
Belts - Likewise with the belly
Breathing normally - Haven't taken a full breath in what feels like forever
Not needing to pee every 5 minutes - how could I forget this one??
Not being quite so spotty
Trotter feet - Or rather, not having them
And bizarrely, being able to clean out the chickens again - Dan does good, but I like things done a certain way and I've needed to let go of that while he's been looking after them.

There are no doubt more things that I'll welcome with open arms although I know that at the same time, I'll miss having Pip as my constant little tummy buddy.

But then, she'll be here for reals and that's going to be a whole new kettle of fish!

Baby blanket bother

Right folks, I need your help.

I'm in the process of knitting Pip a baby blanket. I know, I know, more baby blather, but please bear with me.

I really want to get this blanket together before she gets here and I'm getting all in a tizz about which colours to use. I could really do with some feedback from your lovely selves.

So if you have a couple of minutes to spare, please, please, please take a look at the pictures below and tell me which colour combo you like the best?

1 - Pink & green. Girly, a bit sping like.

2) Pink & blue - not really one of my favourites if I'm honest, but I do love the idea of confusing people. Is it a boy? Is it a girl? Mwahaha!

3) Green, pink & orange. Girly, but not too girly.

4) Pink, green & yellow - I only have one yellow square so you kind of have to use your imagination a bit here..

5) Green and orange

6) Green and yellow

7) Pink and yellow - perhaps a little too girly?

8) Or maybe I should just go all 'Joseph & his technicolour dreamcoat' with it and use all of the colours?

Thanks loves. You're the best!

My Sunday in pictures

Today I have been mainly sowing seeds..

..and working on my assignment. Do you like my new desk? Some days my exercise ball is the only thing that I can sit on comfortably. On such days, the armchair then becomes my table.

And look too at my belated birthday present! Two of our best friends bought me this ukulele for my birthday, I've always wanted one and I now I have one! I haven't been able to play my other guitars lately as I can't bend over to see what I'm doing, but this thing is dinky and rests on the bump beautifully.

I know what I'll be doing tomorrow..maternity leave rocks my socks!

4 Simple Goals - March

"Who knows, maybe I can make February the first month that I complete all four goals!"

Not.
Even.
Close.

But more on that in a moment, first, here are my goals for the lovely month of March.

-1-
Make curtains for our bedroom
Yes this one is still here, shurrup. February just didn't happen. First I had no money to buy the fabric needed, then I got paid and finally bought more, only for there to be a mix up which delayed the delivery. By the time I got it, there were only two days of February left and I was too busy not reaching another of my "simple goals" to focus on the curtain. So here we go again.

-2-
Curtains for Pip's room
I know right? I can't even get one set of curtains made in a month and yet in March I want to get two pairs made. Ha! We'll see. The nursery does need them though. There's nothing in there at the moment curtain-wise and as I intend to use it for night feeds, I'd like to put something up to stop the neighbours getting an eye full!

-3-
Finish course
Just two assignments and the final exam left and then I'm done. COME ON!

-4-
Get garden sorted for spring
I told myself that I'd leave the garden alone this year as there's just no way I'll have the energy to do anything with it. But it's March and I can't remember the last time I didn't do some kind of spring time prep at this time of year. Ignoring the urge to get out in the garden and dig something up just feels wrong.
Obviously it's an urge I'm going to have to ignore, but there are some bits I can still do and I've never had a spring where sunflower seeds were not planted. Even when we lived in an attic flat and only had a window ledge. So that's happening.

Ok. Let's get this over with..

Last month's goals - February

1. Make curtains for bedroom
Well as you've already seen from my March goals above, this one was a massive fail. Not even started.

2. Take time out to relax
Unfortunately nope. I was still working until nearly the end of the month and instead of it getting easier, I found it actually got busier and more stressful. I'm SO glad to be on maternity leave now. Although I'm still making myself daily to do lists as I just don't feel organised yet. I just want to feel that I'm ready for her and then I will stop and do sweet bog all..honest. So with regards to this goal, fail, fail, fail.

3. Complete 2 assignments
I completed and passed one, but I'm still in the process of doing the second. I just find it really hard to stay motivated as this one is all about fashion design and I'm just not in to it. I even tried to distract myself earlier by taking a random pic for you. Total fail.

4. Download more music on to iPod
Nope. I got as far as making a list of the music I want to put on there, but kept telling myself it was something I'd do later..and then never did. Yet another complete fail.

So there you have it. Instead of getting better and reaching all of my goals (shouldn't be hard considering there's only four and they're supposed to be "simple"), I failed to reach any of them. Come of folks, say it with me..
FAIL!
