Project Wednesday - update four (the time out)

Well this isn't really an update if I'm honest. I've been feeling a bit swamped lately so I've decided that for March at least, Project Wednesday will need to take a time out.

My three projects (here for those who are new to my blog), were slightly on the time consuming side and as I want to start thinking about relaunching my Etsy shop soon, I really need to focus on that for the next few weeks. Especially seeing as I've agreed to take part in a craft fair next month and I still haven't made any stock for it. Eeep!

That won't be good. Turning up, setting up a blank table, a big smile and and trying to sell air.

So no Project Wednesday updates for the next few weeks folks. Instead I hope to have more crafting posts instead. I'm looking forward to it already.

I hope you all have a lovely Wednesday everyone!

Project Wednesday - update three

Right, we're back on track.
Sort of.

Back when I wrote my first Project Wednesday post I touched on how nervous I was about attacking the kitchen wall in case I mucked it up.

Well, I mucked it up.

Long (and boring) story short, I did a bit and then decided that I'd end up pissing the neighbours off too much with the noise to make it worth while. Plus I didn't like what I saw underneath the plaster anyway, so I stopped.

Unfortunately this doesn't mean that I've finished with this project. Oh no. It just means that it's changed slightly. Instead of exposing the brick, I now have to fix it and make it all pretty again. Urgh.

Oh well, it's better to regret the things you have done than the things you haven't. That's what they say isn't it?

Well "they" suck if you ask me. And so do stupid kitchen walls.

Project Wednesday - update two

Phase two of my wardrobe overhaul is complete. Well mostly. I made myself a jewellery organiser, look.
Isn't it pretty?

Going through my shoe box of crap jewellery made me realise how much jewellery crap I've been holding on to. I need to go through it and do the whole 'keep/recycle/give away' thing with it too. Urgh, this project seemed like such a good idea at the time. Now it's getting boring already. It's just tidying up, but with clothes. Or in this case, jewellery.

Note to self, no more projects that involve tidying up.

Project Wednesday - update one

Wardrobe Overhaul Update

So phase one is complete. I sorted through all my clothes and this is the result. To the left, a pile of clothes that I don't want to get rid of, but will need to take scissors and thread to before I can start wearing them again. To the right, the pile of clothes that I do actually wear and in the middle, a bag of clothes which will shortly be making it's way to our local charity shop.
Oh and also in the middle is my fedora, which isn't going anywhere because it's ace like space.

Now that the wardrobe is all nice and tidy again, the next phase will be to sort out a way of organising my jewellery. The current method involves a large shoebox and not much else. Storing them like this has resulted in a mass of entangled chains, hooks and beads which makes my head hurt each time I look at it.

So yup, I'll save that little lot for 'Phase Two'. I can't wait.

Project Wednesday

So I've been complaining about the weather a lot lately and at some point, (mid-moan probably) I realised that I've been putting a lot of things off. Things that I want to work on, but had convinced myself I couldn't because it was too dark to take photos, there wasn't enough time in the day, it was too cold/wet etc, etc.

I also realised that I'd be a daft old mare to put things off for stupid reasons like these. January is all but gone already! What I needed was a plan to motivate me into action..so here's what I came up with.

Ladies and Gents, introducing...*drum roll*...Project Wednesday!

OK, OK I know, the name is beyond naff. I might change it later if I can think of something better, but for the meantime at least, “Project Wednesday” it is.

This will basically a chance for me to focus my energies towards achieving 3 simple goals rather than chasing a whole bunch of ideas in my head and getting no where with any of them. Each Wednesday I will share my progress with you all which I hope will keep me motivated and on track!

The three goals I've chosen are:

1
Wardrobe Overhaul

I‘m stuck in a fashion rut right now folk. Leggings, dress and cardigan combo at work, jeans and hoodies on weekends. It's enough to make Gok Wan cry.

And did you know that apparently the average woman uses 20% of her wardrobe, 80% of the time and the rest just sits there gathering dust? Sounds about right in my case, so the aim of this project is to;
a) get me out of my fashion rut,
b) get me using more of my wardrobe and
c) to have a general tidy out, giving stuff to a charity shop or re-vamping it where I can.

2
Crafting Corner Makeover

I now have a corner designated for my sewing machine and other crafty materials. It's definitely fit for it's purpose, but not very inspiring as you can see.

3
Kitchen Wall Makeover

Yup, I can now count myself in that list of people who have thought; "I bet exposed brick would make that room look amazing...I'm going to give it a shot". The wall you can see is the one that I intend to destroy makeover. I've stripped a little wallpaper, but haven't really got further than that. Mainly due to fear.
This is the project I'm the most nervous about. If I screw it up, not only am I going to have to figure out how to fix it, but I might just have a tutting husband standing behind me as I go about it. Which wouldn't be good.

So there you have it folks. I'm feeling all kinds of excited about these projects and sharing my progress with you all. Do let me know what you think!
