My Weekend Off

Last weekend, Dan and Pip went to London for the weekend leaving me home alone.

YEEES!

Usually when I get time like this to myself, I use it to focus on work. Not this time. April has been a very busy month and I promised myself that if I achieved everything on my list, I would keep the weekend for rest and relaxation only. And for once, that's exactly what I did.

Breakfast became an event. Real coffee, pastries, papers and morning radio. Such a luxury!

Lie ins. No need to say more.

I'd heard a few people in my Twitter timeline mention the documentary, 'American Blogger' by Christopher Wiegand, so I decided to give it a go and have a bit of a movie night - with beer and buttered pop corn of course. It was pretty good on the whole, although I think it would have been even better if it had focused on a smaller group of bloggers and spent more time telling their stories. But, very enjoyable nonetheless.

Oh and I gave myself a throw-together foot spa at the same time. Hot water, Epsom salts and soak..

Admittedly, this was not so relaxing, but I wanted to start running again after over a month and a half off. It was a disaster. Apart of raining, my hood refused to stay on my head, my music stopped playing and I had to stop to walk twice. This is most definitely a forced smile.

But it got better once I got back to relaxing and not doing very much at all.

Lesson learned.

My Day in Pictures

The day was glorious. For the first time this year I was sat on the step drinking my morning coffee outside. Pip was happily playing on the decking while I sat and soaked in the morning. A bloody good start to the day if I do say so myself.

After Daddy left for work and coffee was consumed we went upstairs to get dressed. This always takes ages. Here I was supposed to be picking out Pip's clothes. Instead she insisted I watch (but not help) while she struggled to put a bib on her toy sheep

When she got bored of that it was over to Mummy and Daddy's bedroom to partake some serious bed jumping. This went on for nearly half an hour and as you can see, getting her dressed happened in fits and starts.

Eventually we were fed, watered (and dressed) and at her request we went "TO TA PAAARK!"

and to the big slide. She loves this damned thing. So does Mouse.

Duck came too and they all had a good run about. Seriously why won't she nap??

Then it was back home and promptly back outside into the garden where I saw blossom on my baby cherry tree. It made me smile.

Another thing that made me smile was being able to make a dent in the washing pile. Yay I have clean socks again!

Then came lunch and I caught up with The Great British Sewing Bee final. See how those beautiful ladies light up my grey living room? What will I do without this show in my life?

Then it was time to knuckle down and do some work. And this is where I completely forgot to take any more photos, forgot to make dinner and turned into a bit of a grumpy bear.
Note to self: do NOT consume a stupid amount of coffee before you sit down to work. Coffee jitters and sewing do not mix and you'll end up playing with the seam ripper for the rest of the day.

I hope you're all enjoying this gorgeous spring weather!

New in the shop

New In The Shop's latest offering is a multi strand pearl necklace with repurposed vintage brooch.
Very Gatsby!

You can find it here in the shop for £15

You'll have to excuse the photos I'm afraid. The weather here has been pretty miserable these past few days so getting good shots in the grey light was pretty difficult.
I will take more once the weather picks up!

Guerrilla Gardening - Seed Bombs

On Mother's Day, me and Pip got a little seed happy and potted up some flowers for the garden. We had plenty of seeds left so I decided to make some seed bombs. Of course Pip helped. Anything which allows her to play with mud is right up her street!

Hollyhock and sunflower seed bombs ready for launch, chocks away!

And here's the target. This is the view from a parking spot I regularly use. It's left to its own devices at this time of year so providing little critters don't eat the seeds first, they stand a good chance of germinating.

Will it work? Stay tuned..

Alessi - 2 Years

Alessi, (or Pip as I still often call her) is two. When I was pregnant I just couldn't visualise myself with a baby. Whenever I looked into our future, I imagined a toddler. A toddler running around and talking. I imagined the girl she is now. But the image I had in my head wasn't nearly as good as this.

She makes me laugh every day, she surprises me everyday and she exhausts me every day. So far this morning she has asked for a puppy, a dragon and a purple car.
She's chased me around trying to lick my face (no I don't know how we keep passing these illnesses to each other either - it's a mystery).

And she's picked out her own clothes even though I thought the combo I'd got together actually looked pretty fabulous. She clearly disagreed. A fully fledged member of the fashion police that one.

At two she loves:

  • Peppa Pig, which I hate
  • Sarah and Duck, which I also love
  • Raisins
  • Cheese
  • Her boots
  • Outside..any where as long as it's outside
  • The park, especially the "big slide"
  • Dogs
  • Puddles
  • Colours, especially purple
  • Jumping on Mummy's and Daddy's bed
  • Drawing. On anything. As can be seen by looking at our livingroom walls
  • Being read to
  • My wedding ring (obsessed)
  • Ladybirds
  • Swimming with Daddy

She doesn't love:

  • Having her face washed
  • Having her hair washed
  • Or brushed
  • Being cooped up indoors
  • Mushrooms
  • Having sticky hands
  • Naps

There's so much more I could write, but for the sake of brevity I'll finish here.

Keep being awesome my little Pip. Although, feel free to drop the face licking any time you want.

X
